Wilfred Madrid Killed in Santa Monica Crash on Santa Monica Freeway

Santa Monica, California (August 23, 2021) – The 58-year-old Las Vegas man who died in a multi-vehicle accident earlier this month in Santa Monica has been identified by the coroner's office as Wilfred Madrid.
The crash occurred at about 5:46 p.m. August 14, on Santa Monica (10) Freeway at the Lincoln Boulevard overpass, outside the McClure Tunnel.
The California Highway Patrol said Madrid was driving a 2015 Land Rover at a high rate of speed when he collided with a 2021 Tesla and a 2009 Infiniti.
The Infiniti then crashed into a 2016 Dodge while the Land Rover collided with a 2019 Kia. The Land Rover overturned and collided with a 2018 Jeep.
The impact sent the Jeep crashing into a Honda and a Toyota.

Madrid died at the scene of the accident.
Authorities said a 29-year-old Santa Monica woman in the Jeep was hospitalized with major injuries.
Two people riding as passengers in the Infiniti were also hospitalized with minor injuries.
It's unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
