San Jose, CA: Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Highway 101

, California (August 25, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a traffic collision in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at around 5:05 p.m. on the southbound side of Highway 101 near the Brokaw Road exit.

The motorcyclist, only identified as a man in his early to mid-50s, was traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour in the far left lane when another vehicle moved into his lane, the CHP said.

The motorcyclist then swerved into the lane to his right and crashed into the back of a stopped vehicle. Due to the impact, the rider was thrown over the car and struck the rear end of another stopped vehicle.

Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101 in San Jose

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

All southbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down for over one hour following the wreck. Motorists were being diverted onto Highway 87.
