19-Year-Old San Jose Woman Killed in Sunnyvale Crash on Highway 101 near Fair Oaks Avenue

Sunnyvale, California (August 29, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a 19-year-old San Jose woman early Sunday morning in Sunnyvale, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at about 3:10 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Avenue.
The CHP said the woman was driving a red Honda southbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, the Honda drifted to the left and slammed into the center median of the highway.
The Honda then veered to the right and into the No. 2 lane, where it came to a rest. Two other vehicles collided with the Honda.
Highway 101 Accident in Sunnyvale Kills San Jose Woman
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The pileup left all southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Avenue closed. Southbound traffic was being diverted off the highway at the Fair Oaks Avenue off-ramp.
Intoxication was not considered a factor in the accident.
No other details about the crash were available.
The crash remains under investigation.
