Van Nuys Accident on Interstate 405 Freeway near Sherman Way Injures Motorcyclist

Van Nuys, California (September 20, 2021) – A rider was hurt in a collision with a wrong-way vehicle on a freeway in Van Nuys on September 20, the California Highway Patrol said.
The motorcycle crash took place on the Interstate 405 Freeway, just south of Sherman Way, at approximately 7:35 a.m.
The accident happened when a black SUV crossed the double yellow lanes in the morning hours for undetermined reasons. In the process, the motorcycle crashed head-on with the SUV in the HOV lane in the interstate's southbound lanes.
Due to the impact, the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike into the center divider and landed in northbound traffic lanes. In addition, the motorcycle came to a stop on the freeway's southbound side, just north of Victory.
Van Nuys Wrong Way Motorcycle Accident
The motorcyclist sustained unspecified injuries following the collision.
Meanwhile, the crash resulted in the closure of the HOV lane for about 30 minutes.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
