77-Year-Old Newark Man Dies after Hollister Crash on Fairview Road
Hollister, California (September 27, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Monday evening tractor-trailer accident that killed a 77-year-old Newark man in Hollister.
The deadly accident happened at about 7:29 p.m. on Fairview Road north of Fairview Court.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2021 Peterbilt big rig, driven by a 31-year-old Eric Romo of Calexico, was turning left from a private property northbound onto Fairview Road when it collided with a 2017 Buick sedan, operated by the 77-year-old Newark man.
The Buick was reportedly headed southbound on the roadway. It crashed into the back of the trailer that was being towed by the big rig. The sedan became lodged underneath the trailer.

Sadly, the 77-year-old Newark man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the big rig was not injured in the accident.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the mishap.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
