Joseph Molina Hospitalized after Merced County Crash on Highway 152 and Palm Avenue

Merced County, California (October 5, 2021) – Joseph Molina, 57, of Visalia, was injured after being involved in a deadly two-vehicle crash in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at around 8:38 p.m. Friday, October 1, at the intersection of Highway 152 and Palm Avenue.
The CHP said Pedro Rambia, 51, of Avenal, was driving a 2018 Kenworth two-axle big rig hauling a set of double trailers loaded with tomatoes southbound on Palm Avenue when he tried to cross eastbound Highway 152.
A 2021 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Highway 152 braked and swerved to the left to avoid the collision. The Toyota ultimately slammed into the middle of the number two trailer.
Following the collision, the Toyota became wedged underneath the trailer. Rambia, who was not injured, pulled to the highway's right shoulder and called 911.
Molina, who was a passenger in the right rear seat of the Toyota, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Another passenger in the right front seat was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor in the crash.
The collision remains under investigation.
