Child Injured in Riverside Pedestrian Collision at Jackson Street and Garfield Street
Riverside, California (October 10, 2021) – A juvenile pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car following a chain-reaction crash at a red light in Riverside on Saturday afternoon.
The collision happened at Jackson Street and Garfield Street at about 3:45 p.m. October 9, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Mercedes SUV traveling northbound on Jackson Street ran a red light and struck a Chevrolet Cruze that was traveling west on Garfield Street.
The crash caused one of the cars to strike a juvenile pedestrian who was crossing Jackson Street in the crosswalk.

The impact of the crash threw the juvenile into a Toyota Camry that was stopped at a red light on southbound Jackson Street.
The minor sustained major injuries and was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
