Escondido, CA: Pedestrian Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at Washington Avenue and Rose Street

, California (October 13, 2021) – A female was killed and another was injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision at an intersection in Escondido, authorities said.

The deadly crash occurred at around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Rose Street.

According to the authorities, a Nissan Titan was traveling eastbound on East Washington Avenue, approaching North Rose Street, when the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a Ford Fusion that was heading northbound on Rose Street.

After the collision, one of the involved vehicles then struck a 45-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy while walking across Washington Avenue inside a crosswalk.

Medical personnel responded to the scene and performed CPR on the woman before transporting her to Palomar Medical Center, where she was declared dead. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Rady Children's Hospital in for treatment.

It was not immediately known if the occupants of the two vehicles were injured in the crash.
