Aguanga, CA: 2 Injured in Collision with Tanker Truck on Highway 371

Aguanga, California (October 13, 2021) – Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a traffic collision involving a sewage tanker in Aguanga, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, in the area of Highway 371 and Highway 79.

The CHP report states that the truck carrying 2,300 gallons of sewage was trying to transition from the eastbound Highway 371 onto northbound Highway 79 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The truck reportedly overturned and crashed into two vehicles, a white pickup truck and a red Ford Expedition SUV.

Following the collision, the truck landed on the SUV, trapping its occupants.

2 Hurt in Tanker Truck Crash on Highway 371 in Aguanga

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated a child and an adult from the SUV. One of the patients was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, and the second victim was also taken by ambulance to a hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the truck was not hurt in the crash.

One lane of the northbound Highway 79 was blocked at the junction while crews cleaned up the leaking chemicals and sewage from the truck.

The crash remains under investigation.
