Driver Killed in Fresno County Crash at Mount Whitney Avenue and Cedar Street
Fresno County, California (October 14, 2021) – A driver was killed Thursday afternoon in a traffic collision involving a big rig at an intersection in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Whitney Avenue and Cedar Street.
Authorities said the semi-truck had stopped for a red light and pulled out from the intersection when it was rear-ended by a white Mercedes.
The impact caused the Mercedes driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The operator of the big rig, who was not injured, stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police. Authorities believed speed played a role in the crash.
The intersection was blocked for several hours as the CHP investigated the crash.
