24-Year-Old Man Killed, 2 Injured in Barstow Crash on Interstate 15
Barstow, California (October 14, 2021) – A man was hit and killed by a semi-truck Thursday morning on an interstate near Barstow in San Bernardino County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened just after 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 15, approximately 30 miles north of Barstow.
CHP said a 2022 Kia, occupied by the 24-year-old man and two other males, was traveling on Interstate 15 when it tried to pass a semi-truck on the right-hand shoulder of the road. For unknown reasons, the Kia slammed into another semi-truck parked on the shoulder.
Due to the impact, the 24-year-old man was thrown out of the rear window and landed onto Interstate 15. He was then struck by the semi-truck, which they attempted to pass was traveling.

The man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The other two passengers in the Kia were transported to Barstow Community Hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities did not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
