1 Hospitalized after Salinas Accident on Highway 101 near Hartnell
Salinas, California (October 15, 2021) – One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after being involved in a three-vehicle collision on a highway in Salinas Thursday afternoon.
The major injury crash involving a big rig, a gray BMW, and a black Kia took place on Highway 101 between Hartnell Road and Abbott Street at approximately 3:54 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol did not immediately establish how the collision occurred on the northbound side of the roadway.
Due to the impact, one person was pinned in the BMW and had to be rescued by firefighters.

The extricated victim sustained minor injuries following the collision. The victim, whose name was not immediately established, was rushed to an area hospital for medication.
The crash resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of Highway 101 for an unknown time.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
