At Least 2 Injured, 1 Seriously in Holtville Car Crash on State Route 98 near IID Drop 4 Substation
Holtville, California (October 22, 2021) – Two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a Thursday evening Holtville car crash involving a U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle.
The collision occurred at around 7:09 p.m. on State Route 98 near the IID Drop 4 Substation.
As per the report, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle collided with a gray Toyota Tundra for unknown reasons.
Eight people were involved in the accident; five were in one vehicle, and three were in the other.
At least two of the persons were injured. One sustained major internal injuries, and the other complained of pain to the chest.
1 Airlifted after Holtville Collision on SR-98
USBP officers closed the highway to allow an air ambulance to land. The helicopter airlifted the patient with major internal injuries to Desert Regional Medical Center. The other patient was transported by AMR to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
The report did not mention the condition of the other parties involved in the crash.
Authorities did not immediately establish the cause of the collision, but an investigation is ongoing.
