Martin Barajas Jr Seriously Hurt in Deadly I-5 Accident near Patterson
Patterson, California (October 24, 2021) – Martin Diaz Barajas Jr., 30, of Sacramento, was seriously injured in a deadly collision that occurred near Patterson on Saturday night, according to a CHP report.
The crash led to the death of a 54-year-old Gilroy man, whose name was not immediately released.
CHP said the accident happened on Interstate 5 north of Howard road just before 9:43 p.m. October 23.
According to the report, the Gilroy man was driving a 1983 Jeep southbound in the right lane of I-5 when it was rear-ended by a 2018 Ford driven by Barajas.
The impact pushed the Jeep off the west shoulder and it overturned. Barajas lost control of the Ford and overturned multiple times in the center divide, before slamming into a high-tension cable barrier.

The driver of the Jeep was ejected in the crash and died at the scene.
Barajas sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
