At Least 1 Seriously Injured in Oakland Car Crash on 80 Freeway near San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge
Oakland, California (October 29, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon in Oakland, resulting in major injuries.
California Highway Patrol officers, firefighters, paramedics and Caltrans officials responded to eastbound 80 Freeway near the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Toll Plaza, where three vehicles had collided at around 12:48 p.m.
Caltrans closed the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of eastbound 80 Freeway following the collision.
One person who was possibly ejected from one of the cars was sitting in traffic lanes.
At least one person sustained major injuries in the accident, the report said. An ambulance was sent to the scene to transport the patient to the hospital.
The report added that a two-vehicle crash that resulted in property damage only also occurred at the same scene at around the same time.
A sweeper was dispatched to the scene to help clear debris from the collisions.
Authorities are investigating the incidents.
