Motorcycle Accidents in California
In 2019, California was leading in the number of registered motorcycles in the USA. The state has also, over the years, recorded high numbers of motorcycle accidents resulting in catastrophic injuries or death.
Some of the common causes of motorcycle collisions in California include:
- Motorcycle lane splitting
- Cars making left turns
- Speeding
- Driving under the influence
- Road hazards
Motorcyclists are more likely to suffer serious injuries when an accident happens compared to car passengers. This is so because motorcycles do not have many safety features such as airbags, safety belts or steel cage to protect riders. Instead, they rely on helmets and protective riding suits only.
