Two Bicyclists Injured in Sausalito DUI Crash on Bridgeway at Nevada Street
Sausalito, California (November 3, 2021) – Two bicyclists were injured after being struck by an alleged drunken driver Sunday evening in Sausalito, according to the Sausalito Police Department.
The accident occurred at around 6:36 p.m. Sunday, October 31, in the area of Bridgeway and Nevada Street.
Police said the bicyclists were traveling northbound on Bridgeway when they were struck from behind by a vehicle at Nevada Street.
The impact caused both riders to be thrown from their bikes.
Two Cyclists Injured in Sausalito Bicycle Accident
One of the cyclists was taken to a local hospital while the other was treated at the scene. The names of the patients and their current condition were not available.
The driver of the involved vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. The suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Gillis, 51, of Sausalito, was arrested and booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, DUI and causing injury, possessing drug paraphernalia, and possessing a weapon.
The crash remains under investigation.
