, California (November 4, 2021) – The County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has identified the woman who died Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Moreno Valley as Maria Kritzberger, 57, of Moreno Valley.

The deadly wreck happened at around 5:43 a.m. at the intersection of Heacock Street and Revere Place.

Authorities responded to the scene and determined that a red Kia Optima was heading southbound on Heacock Street when its driver fell asleep and allowed the vehicle to drift into the opposite lanes.

The Kia then collided head-on with a northbound Silver Toyota Camry driven by Kritzberger.

Kritzberger was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. Sadly, she was declared dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by responding paramedics.

The driver of the Kia sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The two drivers were sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

Investigators did not believe alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash. The area of Heacock Street and Revere Place was blocked as the investigation and cleanup took place.
