County, California (November 5, 2021) – One person was seriously injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Montara, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred at around 10:50 a.m. Thursday, November 4, on Highway 1, just north of 2nd Street.

According to the CHP, a Nissan SUV collided with a Volkswagen on the southbound side of the highway near Montara State Beach.

As a result of the collision, the Nissan sustained front damage.

Authorities said the patient was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The name of the victim and their condition were not immediately available.

The southbound lanes of Highway 1 were temporarily blocked for nearly one hour as the investigation and cleanup took place.

The crash remains under investigation.
