Pleasanton, CA: 1 Killed in Traffic Collision on 680 Freeway near 580 Freeway

, California (November 5, 2021) – One person died in a three-vehicle collision that occurred Thursday morning on in Pleasanton, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred at around 5:53 a.m. on southbound 680 Freeway near the Interchange.

Authorities conducted an initial investigation and determined that the driver of a Honda Civic sideswiped a semi- in the slow lane and lost control of the car.

The Honda crossed all traffic lanes, hit the center divider wall, and ended up sideways in the far left lane. It was then hit by a Ford pickup truck.

Authorities said the driver of the Honda suffered significant injuries and died in the accident. No word was given about the other motorists involved in the accident.

Southbound 680 Freeway remained blocked for an unknown period following the deadly accident.

CHP is investigating the collision.
