Michael Dougherty ID'd as Man Killed in Encinitas Crash on Encinitas Boulevard

Encinitas, California (November 8, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who died Thursday evening following a traffic collision while delivering groceries in Encinitas as Michael Dougherty, 62, of Escondido.
The deadly wreck happened at around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, November 4, in the 911 block of Encinitas Boulevard.
Authorities said Dougherty was pulling out of an apartment complex onto Encinitas Boulevard in a 2007 Toyota Corolla when he stopped in the southbound lanes and was hit by a Toyota Tacoma.
The pickup truck driver tried to stop but ended up hitting the driver's side door of the Corolla. Both vehicles came to a stop at the curb following the collision.
Victim in Deadly Encinitas Collision Identified
Dougherty, who was trapped in the Toyota, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation by San Diego Sheriff Department.
