Live Oak Man Killed in Gridley Crash Monday Night on State Route 99 at Wright Avenue
Gridley, California (November 9, 2021) – A Live Oak man was killed Monday night in a collision between a semi-truck and a car in Gridley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at around 10:50 p.m. on northbound State Route 99 at Wright Avenue.
The Live Oak man was driving a Chrysler 300 southbound on SR-99 when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the vehicle, which veered into the northbound lane and collided with an oncoming semi-truck driven by a Chico man, the CHP reported.
Deadly Big Rig Collision in Gridley
The Live Oak man driving the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The operator of the semi-truck stopped at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. Investigators did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
Caltrans closed the highway at Wright Avenue in both directions for an unknown period following the collision. Southbound traffic was being diverted off the highway at Township Road.
