1 Injured in Otay Mesa Crash at Ocean View Hills Parkway and Hidden Trails Road
San Diego, California (November 13, 2021) – One person was hospitalized after a female driver crashed into parked cars while reaching for her baby Friday morning in San Diego's Otay Mesa, as per a local news source.
The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Ocean View Hills Parkway and Hidden Trails Road.
Authorities said a female driver of a Toyota 4Runner had not secured her 1-year-old baby's car seat onto the rear seat seatbelts when she tried to make a turn from Ocean View Hills to Hidden Trails.
The driver made the turn at a high rate of speed, and the car seat and baby began to move.
As the mother reached behind for the baby, she crashed into three parked cars, causing one of them to overturn onto its side.
A male party sitting in the back seat of a silver Chevy involved in the crash was hospitalized for unspecified injuries.
The toddler and mother were not hurt.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
