58-Year-Old Grass Valley Man, 73-Year-Old Auburn Woman Seriously Injured in Placer County Crash on Interstate 80 near Newcastle Road

Placer County, California (November 13, 2021) – A 58-year-old man from Grass Valley and a 73-year-old woman from Auburn were seriously injured in a Friday morning motorcycle accident in Placer County, authorities said.
The major injury accident occurred at about 11:23 a.m., on November 12, on westbound Interstate 80 just east of Newcastle Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 58-year-old Grass Valley man was riding his motorcycle when it crashed into the left side of a Toyota Rav 4 and lost control.
A witness told the officials that the Toyota was in the No. 2 lane and the motorcycle was in the No. 1 lane adjacent to the Toyota. Both were traveling at about 65 mph at the time.
As a result of the crash impact, the 58-year-old Grass Valley man and his passenger, the 73-year-old Auburn woman, were ejected onto the roadway.
Motorcyclist and Passenger Injured in Interstate 80 Crash
The two riders were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the mishap.
The crash remains under investigation.
