Cristie Manuwa Suffers Major Injuries in Buttonwillow Collision on Interstate 5 near Highway 46
Buttonwillow, California (November 18, 2021) – Cristie Manuwa, 65, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly head-on, wrong-way crash in Buttonwillow Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities responded to Interstate 5, just north of Highway 46, at around 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, after receiving reports of a driver heading northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate.
The authorities arrived at the scene and determined that a 2004 Hyundai, which was traveling the wrong direction, had collided head-on with a 2020 Ford driven by Manuwa.

Manuwa sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 62-year-old Bakersfield man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
It is undetermined whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
