1 Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on South Union Avenue near Highway 223 in Bakersfield
Kern County, California (November 19, 2021) – One person was killed in a Friday morning collision involving a big rig in Bakersfield.
The deadly collision happened at about 8:50 a.m. on South Union Avenue near Highway 223, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A GMC Envoy SUV was traveling southbound on the highway when it crashed into a semi-truck. The SUV became wedged underneath the semi-truck after the collision.

The SUV driver was killed in the accident.
A young girl inside the SUV suffered major injuries in the accident and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Some lanes of Union Avenue were temporarily blocked as the officers examined the scene.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
