2 Children, 2 Adults Killed in Sierra Nevada Crash on Interstate 80 near Eagle Lakes Road

Sierra County, California (November 21, 2021) – Four people were killed and two others were injured early Saturday morning in an alleged DUI wrong-way car crash on an interstate in the Sierra Nevada, Sierra County.
At about 5:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, authorities received a report of a driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 80 near Eagle Lakes Road.
A Jeep was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 when it collided head-on with a Honda Civic, carrying a man, a woman, two young children and an infant.
Deadly Wrong-Way Collision in Sierra County
Both adults and the two children died in the collision. The infant was airlifted to the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with unspecified injuries.
The wrong way motorist, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, was also taken to the Renown Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
