Marianna, Antonio Jr. Among 4 Killed in Sierra County Crash on Interstate 80 near Eagle Lakes Road

Sierra County, California (November 23, 2021) – Authorities are investigating an early Saturday morning crash involving a wrong-way driver on an interstate that killed four people, including two children in the Sierra Nevada, Sierra County.
The incident was reported at around 5:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, on Interstate 80 near Eagle Lakes Road.
Authorities said a Jeep was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 when it collided head-on with a Honda Civic carrying Brittney Montano, 29, and Antonio Montano, 29, both of North Highlands, their 9-year-old daughter, Marianna, and 5-year-old son, Antonio Jr., and an infant.

Both adults and the two children in the Honda died in the collision. The infant was airlifted to Reno's Renown Regional Medical Center with extensive injuries, including a broken leg that required surgery, fractures in his foot and ribs.
The wrong-way motorist, who was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, was also transported to the Renown Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
