Authorities Identify Man Killed in Santa Clarita Crash on Golden State (5) Freeway near Calgrove Boulevard as Miguel Gonzalez
Santa Clarita, California (November 24, 2021) – Authorities in Santa Clarita have identified the man who died in a Tuesday evening 5 Freeway crash as Miguel Gonzalez, 56.
The collision occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, on the northbound side of the Golden State (5) Freeway, just south of Calgrove Boulevard.
According to the authorities, Gonzalez, a resident of Stevenson Ranch, was driving a 2020 Ford Explorer on the northbound side of the freeway when he slammed into the back of a 2022 Peterbilt big rig at Calgrove Boulevard.

Gonzalez, who suffered cardiac arrest in the collision, was extricated from his vehicle by firefighters. He was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by responding paramedics.
A SigAlert was issued, blocking the no. 1, 2, 3 lanes for nearly one hour as the investigation took place.
The CHP is investigating to determine the exact cause of the fatal crash.
