Amazon Employee Aurelio Fuentes Suffers Major Injuries in Fresno Crash at Cedar Avenue and Florence Avenue; Israel Douglas Arrested
Fresno, California (November 25, 2021) – A 23-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday night in an alleged DUI crash at an intersection in southeast Fresno, according to police.
The collision took place at around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Florence Avenue.
Police said Aurelio Fuentes, a contract employee for Amazon, had pulled out of the facility and drove northbound on Cedar Avenue when a black Kia struck his black Chevrolet.
Both vehicles crossed both lanes of traffic and come to rest on the west curb line.
Israel Douglas Arrested after DUI Crash That Injured Amazon Employee
Fuentes was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Three passengers of the Kia sustained minor injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
Police determined that the driver of the Kia was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The suspect, later identified as Israel Douglas, was ultimately arrested and booked into custody on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury and driving while unlicensed.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
