Chowchilla, CA: CHP Investigating Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 152

, California (December 3, 2021) – At least one person was killed in a multi- that took place Saturday morning during foggy weather in Chowchilla, County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck started at about 8:37 a.m. when a big rig with a gray trailer collided with a white sedan. Shortly after, several other vehicles were involved in collisions. At around 9:06 a.m., Emergency Medical Service providers who responded to help the motorists told CHP that “vehicles keep hitting each other.”

Authorities said at least one person died in the accident. At least two others were injured, including one who was transported to Madera Community Hospital with the complaint of pain to the back, a driver of one of the cars who suffered unspecified injuries, and a young child in a white Toyota Prius who needed medical evaluation as a precaution.

About six tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles from the collision scene.

Visibility in the area was about 50 to 100 feet, authorities said.

Caltrans closed Highway 152 on the westbound transition from and eastbound traffic on Highway 59.
