Robert Williams Seriously Injured in Davis Crash on Interstate 80 near Richards Boulevard
Davis, California (December 3, 2021) – Robert Williams, 42, was seriously injured in a traffic collision that left an infant dead Thursday morning in Davis.
The deadly accident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, on the eastbound side of Interstate 80, just west of Richards Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Williams was driving a Toyota Avalon on Interstate 80 when, for unknown reasons, he slammed into the guard rail in the center median area. The Avalon became disabled and blocked the lane next to the fast lane.
An approaching International Box Truck reportedly slammed into the Avalon. A Toyota Tacoma approaching in the fast lane next also crashed into the Avalon.
Due to the impact of the collision, the 1-year-old child who was in the Avalon was ejected from the vehicle.
Infant Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Interstate 80 Crash
Sadly, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Williams was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center with major injuries. His current condition was not immediately disclosed.
Another passenger in the Avalon also sustained major injuries and was taken to the University of California, Davis in Sacramento.
The box truck driver, Alejandro Ledezma-Aranda, 33, of Woodland, did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
The driver of the Tacoma, Jose Rosales-Cruz Jr., 31, of Sacramento, was also unhurt.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
