Walter Martinez Identified as 22-Year-Old Man Killed in Otay Mesa Motorcycle Accident on Siempre Viva Road near Customhouse Plaza
Otay Mesa, California (December 7, 2021) – Walter Lopez Martinez, 27, of Mexico, has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a Monday morning traffic accident in Otay Mesa, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m., on December 6, in the 9200 block of Siempre Viva Road near Customhouse Plaza.
Martinez was headed eastbound on his motorcycle alongside a tractor-trailer. The semi-truck then made a U-turn to the left in front of Martinez, authorities said.
Unfortunately, Martinez crashed into the rear axle of the big rig, tumbled onto the roadway, and slid underneath the semi-truck.

Martinez was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The operator of the semi-truck, a 53-year-old man, did not suffer any injuries.
