Emerita Cahoy, Eduardo Cinco Injured in Gustine Crash at Bambauer Road and Highway 33; Salvador Garcia Arrested
Gustine, California (December 9, 2021) – Emerita Cahoy, 44, and Eduardo Cinco, 66, both of Newman, were injured in an alleged DUI crash in Gustine last week on Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 2, at the intersection of Bambauer Road and Highway 33.
CHP said Salvador Garcia, 29, of Gustine, was driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox eastbound on Bambouer Road when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and struck a 2015 Lexus that was being driven northbound on Highway 33 by Cahoy.
As a result of the crash, the Chevy left the road and came to rest on the dirt shoulder with side damage. The Lexus had major front-end damage.
Salvador Garcia Arrested in Gustine Car Crash
Cahoy complained of pain and small lacerations after the crash. She declined hospitalization and was treated at the crash site.
Cahoy's passenger, Cinco, complained of pain and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Another passenger in the Lexus, a 3-year-old girl, was properly restrained and was not hurt.
Garcia had a laceration to the forehead and was transported to Los Banos Memorial hospital. He was later arrested and booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of DUI.
The crash remains under investigation.
