James Wallace Dies after Single-Engine Plane Accident on Discovery Bay in Bermuda Dunes

Riverside County, California (December 12, 2021) – Authorities said the pilot involved in a single-engine plane crash Saturday afternoon in Bermuda Dunes died of his injuries while receiving treatment.
83-year-old James Wallace of Palm Desert sustained serious injuries when his single-engine Moul Willis RV-3 crash-landed at around 12:30 p.m. in the 78000 block of Discovery Bay, east of Palm Desert.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, Wallace was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be freed by first responders.
The pilot was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Unfortunately, he died of his injuries at 9:34 p.m. the same day.
The Federal Aviation Administration said Wallace was the only occupant. There was no one on the ground who was injured.
The crash is under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
