69-Year-Old Napa Resident Gregory Schmitz Seriously Injured in Napa DUI Crash at Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue; Esai Corro Arrested

Napa, California (December 14, 2021) – Gregory J. Schmitz, 69, of Napa, was seriously injured Sunday night in an alleged DUI crash in north Napa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The major collision happened at around 8:42 p.m. Sunday, December 12, at the intersection of Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue.
CHP said a Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Big Ranch Road when the driver stopped for a Chevrolet Silverado that was backing out of a driveway.
A Jeep Cherokee that was traveling southbound slammed into the back of the Toyota, which then veered into a ditch. The Jeep continued forward and hit the Chevrolet.
Schmitz, who was the driver of the Prius, was transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
The 25-year-old Marysville man driving the Silverado had minor injuries and sought his own aid.
The Jeep driver, Esai Jared Corro, 33, of Napa, was also transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was later arrested and booked at the Napa County jail on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
