Kolleen Jackson ID'd as Driver Killed in Del Rio Crash on Highway 108(Patterson Road) at Skittone Road
Del Rio, California (December 14, 2021) – The Stanislaus County Coroner's Office has identified the driver who died Tuesday morning following a three-vehicle collision in Del Rio as 68-year-old Riverbank resident Kolleen Jackson.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 9:43 a.m. at Highway 108/Patterson Road and Skittone Road, just north of Modesto and west of Riverbank.
CHP said a Honda sedan, driven by Oakdale resident Brandon Garcia-Castro, was heading westbound on Patterson Road while a white Ford SUV, driven by Jackson, was traveling behind the Honda.
The Honda then stopped to turn left onto Skittone Road. Jackson reportedly swerved to the left to avoid the collision but ended up hitting the back of the Honda.
Due to the impact, the Ford rotated clockwise and flipped onto its left side, entering the opposite lane. A green Chevrolet SUV, driven by Sumer Cheever, 27, of Modesto, slammed into the right side of the Ford as it was overturning.
Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash in Del Rio
Jackson, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died in the crash.
Cheever was transported to Doctors Medical Center with major internal injuries while her passengers, Joseph Aldaz, age 3, Vanessa Aldaz, 2, and Sophia Aldaz, 6 months, were also taken to area hospitals for precaution. The medical personnel determined that the children were not injured.
Garcia-Castro sustained minor injuries and sought his own aid.
All parties were wearing their seat belts when the accident happened. It's undetermined whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
