Brandon Garcia-Castro Injured in Del Rio Crash on Highway 108(Patterson Road) at Skittone Road
Del Rio, California (December 14, 2021) – Oakdale resident Brandon Garcia-Castro was injured Tuesday morning in a traffic collision that left one person dead in Del Rio.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 9:43 a.m. at Highway 108/Patterson Road and Skittone Road, just north of Modesto and west of Riverbank.
CHP said a Honda sedan, driven by Garcia-Castro, was heading westbound on Patterson Road while a white Ford SUV, driven by Kolleen Jackson, 68, of Riverbank, was traveling behind the Honda.
The Honda then stopped to turn left onto Skittone Road. Jackson reportedly swerved to the left to avoid the collision but ended up hitting the back of the Honda.
Due to the impact, the Ford rotated clockwise and flipped onto its left side, entering the opposite lane. A green Chevrolet SUV, driven by Sumer Cheever, 27, of Modesto, slammed into the right side of the Ford as it was overturning.
Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash in Del Rio
Jackson, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died in the crash.
Cheever was transported to the Doctors Medical Center with major internal injuries. Her passengers, Joseph Aldaz, age 3, Vanessa Aldaz, 2, and Sophia Aldaz, 6 months, were also taken to area hospitals for precaution. The medical personnel determined that the children were not injured.
Garcia-Castro sustained minor injuries and sought his own aid.
All parties were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. It's undetermined whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
