Driver Hurt in Redding Train Accident on South Street

Redding, California (December 15, 2021) – A driver was injured in a crash with a train in Redding on Tuesday evening, according to the Redding Police Department.
The incident happened on South Street at about 8:20 p.m. December 14.
Police said a woman was driving westbound on South Street when she went across the crossing arms of the railroad tracks and was struck by a southbound train.
The vehicle spun and knocked down one of the crossing arms following the collision.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
Roads were closed in the area for the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
