Robert Morten, Cale Merton Injured in Mono County Crash on Highway 395 at Walker Canyon

Mono County, California (December 15, 2021) – Robert Morten, 50, of Chula Vista and Cale Merton, 19, were injured in a traffic collision involving an Eastern Sierra Unified School District bus in Mono County Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at about 4:20 p.m. on December 13, on Highway 395, just south of the Walker Canyon and north of Chris Flat Campground.
Coleville resident Lawrence Anderson was carrying eight students southbound on Highway 395 when he lost control for unknown reasons and drifted across the centerline into the northbound lane.

The bus then struck a Toyota Tacoma driven by Robert Morten.
Robert Morten was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Cale Merton, who was a passenger in the Toyota, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Anderson and the eight students were not injured.
The crash closed the highway for more than an hour.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
