Teen Bicyclist Suffers Major Injuries in San Marcos Crash at San Elijo Road and Elfin Forest Road

San Marcos, California (December 16, 2021) – A teenage bicyclist was critically injured Wednesday evening in a traffic accident at an intersection in San Marcos, according to authorities.
The major injury collision happened just after 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, at the intersection of San Elijo Road and Elfin Forest Road.
Authorities said a 17-year-old boy was riding an e-bike southbound on San Elijo Road in the bike lane when he collided with an Amazon delivery van that was heading westbound on Elfin Forest Road.
The rider was ejected from the e-bike upon the impact.
Major Injury Crash in San Marcos
The bicyclist sustained major injuries and was transported to Palomar Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He is expected to survive.
Authorities suspect the bicyclist may have failed to stop for a red light before entering the intersection.
