53-Year-Old Man Killed, 26-Year Man Injured in Hollister Crash on Highway 156 near San Felipe Road

Hollister, California (December 18, 2021) – One person died and another was injured following a crash near Hollister on Friday, according to the authorities.
The collision occurred at around 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 17 on Highway 156 near San Felipe Road.
Authorities said a 26-year-old man was driving westbound on Highway 156 at about 60 mph when his 1999 Chevrolet Silverado swerved to the left and crossed over the solid double yellow lines.
The Chevrolet then collided with a 2016 Nissan Frontier that was traveling eastbound on Highway 156 at approximately 55 mph, driven by a 53-year-old man.
Following the collision, both vehicles came to rest on the southern shoulder of the highway.

The 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The 26-year-old suffered only minor injuries.
Investigators did not believe alcohol and/drugs were factors in the crash.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
