2 Pedestrians Hit, Injured by Vehicle on Sidewalk in Cortez Hill

Cortez Hill, California (December 18, 2021) –Two pedestrians were injured after being struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in the Cortez Hill neighborhood in downtown , according to authorities.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. in the area of Sixth Avenue and Cedar Street.

Authorities said a 58-year-old man was driving a grey Toyota Camry southbound on Sixth Avenue when he drifted to the left and onto the east sidewalk on 6th Avenue.

The Camry reportedly struck the two pedestrians and then slammed into a light post, parking meter, tree, and barber shop.

Major Injury Pedestrian Accident in Cortez Hill

The pedestrians, only identified as two men between the ages of 65-75 years old, were struck by debris from the collision. Both men were transported to a hospital, one with life-threatening internal injuries and the other with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
