23-Year-Old Man Killed, Another Man in Critical Condition after Fresno County Crash on West Shields Avenue near North Chateau Fresno Avenue
Fresno County, California (December 18, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a man and left another man seriously injured Saturday evening in Fresno County, authorities said.
The deadly crash occurred at about 5:40 p.m. on West Shields Avenue near North Chateau Fresno Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 23-year-old man was driving a red truck eastbound on West Shields Avenue when, for undetermined reasons, the red truck collided head-on with another vehicle that was traveling westbound on West Shields Avenue.
Fatal Head-On Collision in Fresno County
The driver of the red truck was declared dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of family.
The second driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Both drivers were sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
Alcohol was considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
