Cyclist Hospitalized after Chula Vista Bicycle Accident on Bay Boulevard near H Street
Chula Vista, California (December 19, 2021) – A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a vehicle Sunday morning in Chula Vista, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
The accident happened at about 7:00 a.m. on Bay Boulevard near H Street.
The cyclist, only identified as a male victim, was riding southbound on Bay Boulevard when a gray Toyota Carolla rear-ended him in the middle of the traffic lane.
Police said there was a miscommunication between the two as the Toyota driver attempted to pass the bicyclist, causing the crash.
Authorities also mentioned that the bike lane on Bay Boulevard was littered with tree debris from the recent storm.

The bicycle rider sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. His name and condition were not immediately available.
