, California (December 21, 2021) – A Modesto man was killed and an woman was injured in an alleged DUI crash in rural Stanislaus County on Monday night, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at around 11:10 p.m. December 20.

A 32-year-old Modesto man was driving a pickup when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and slammed into a sedan. Due to the impact, the pickup rolled over multiple times, ejecting both occupants from the vehicle.

The pickup driver, a 32-year-old Modesto man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A 25-year-old Oakdale woman, who was a passenger in the pickup, sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. Her current condition was unknown.

The driver of the sedan, that vehicle's sole occupant, had only minor injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs were considered factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
