Russell Bennett ID'd as Man Killed in Turlock Collision on Monte Vista Avenue at Carpenter Road
Turlock, California (December 22, 2021) – Authorities have identified the man who died Monday night in an alleged DUI crash west of Turlock as Russell Bennett, 33, of Modesto.
The crash happened at around 11:10 p.m. Monday, December 20, in the area of Monte Vista Avenue and Carpenter Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to CHP, Bennett was driving a Chevrolet eastbound on Monte Vista Avenue when he failed to stop for a red light at Carpenter Road and was struck by a southbound Nissan, which didn't have a stop sign.
Due to the impact, the Chevrolet rolled over multiple times, ejecting both occupants from the vehicle.
Victim of Fatal Car Crash in Turlock Identified as Modesto Man
Bennett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Danielle Harder, 25, of Oakdale, sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The driver of the Nissan, Victor Flores Barrera, 44, of Modesto, had only minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Alcohol and/or drugs were considered factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
