Police Officer Hurt in Fresno Crash on Shaw and El Capitan Avenues
Fresno, California (December 24, 2021) – A police officer was injured in a traffic collision involving an alleged DUI driver in Fresno on Thursday night, according to the authorities.
The officer was inside his vehicle blocking one southbound lane of Shaw Avenue when he was rear-ended by another driver.
The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. December 23, near El Capitan Avenue.
Authorities said the officer was blocking the roadway and died in a pothole.

The officer complained of pain and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The other driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and driver with a suspended license. Police said the driver had a prior DUI conviction.
The incident is under investigation.
