12-Year-Old Girl Flown after Joshua Tree Crash on Sunfair Dry Lake Bed

Joshua Tree, California (January 5, 2021) – A child was airlifted to a hospital after a head-on collision in Joshua Tree on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred when Joshua Brock, 41, of Yucca Valley was driving a 2011 Nissan Frontier eastbound on Sunfair Dry Lake Bed over the dirt berms and collided head-on with an oncoming 1974 GMC truck driven by Russell Pene Jr., 46, of Banning.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. January 1.
Girl Airlfited after Joshua Tree Car Crash
A 12-year-old girl riding in the GMC was transported by ambulance to Hi-Desert Medical Center and then airlifted to Loma Linda hospital with major injuries.
A second 12-year-old girl in the GMC was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
A 4-year-old boy in the GMC was transported to Desert Regional with minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the incident.
The crash is under investigation.
