Jacqueline Morgan Killed in Moreno Valley Crash on Redlands Boulevard

, California (January 6, 2021) – The Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has identified the driver who died after being struck by a vehicle mid-last month in Moreno Valley as Jacqueline Morgan, 52, of Moreno Valley.

The crash occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on December 15 on Boulevard, just north of Ironwood Avenue.

Authorities said a white 2013 Toyota Corolla was heading southbound on Redlands Boulevard when it fatally hit a burro (donkey) who was crossing the roadway near the intersection with Juniper Avenue.

The Toyota driver pulled over on the side of the roadway and was in the process of calling for help when Morgan angled her silver 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer in front of the burro in an apparent attempt to prevent a secondary collision.

Morgan reportedly got out of her vehicle and was standing near the driver's side door when a silver 2007 Nissan Altima struck her.

The Nissan then pushed the Chevy into the parked Toyota and veered off the roadway, where it overturned in a nearby drainage ditch.

Morgan sustained major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. On December 19, her condition deteriorated and she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota did not suffer injuries in the collision.

The Nissan driver, Martin Joel Ramirez-Hernandez, 55, of Mecca, was trapped inside his wrecked vehicle and was extricated by firefighters. He was then taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On January 5, 2022, Ramirez-Hernandez was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for felony DUI, Second-Degree Murder, driving with a Suspended License, and an enhancement for the Great Bodily Injury resulting from the collision.

Ramirez-Hernandez is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station at 951-486-6727 or the County Sheriff's Department at 951-776-1099.
